Seven Springs Mountain Resort, Pennsylvania’s premier four-season resort, will host its inaugural Rib and Wing Festival, July 30 – August 1, 2010. This mouth-watering, finger-lickin’-good festival will feature ribs and wings of all sizes and tastes from Pigfoot BBQ, Smokin’ Joe’s Hog Wild Barbecue, Mojo’s Ribshack, Armadillo’s BBQ and Rib Company and more, including dry rubbed, saucy, brined, hot, sweet and hot, garlic and butter, the list goes on! Enjoy mouth-watering ribs and wings, musical entertainment, games, crafters, a beer garden, fireworks Friday night and Kids' Zone with arts, crafts and games for the youngsters. Some of the tri-state’s best bands and performers including Scott Blasey of The Clarks, The Bill Deasy Band and Chris Higbee formerly of The Povertyneck Hillbillies will perform during this three-day festival! Thirteen bands will serve up nearly 20 hours of music varying classic rock to and blues to Motown. Scheduled performers include Good Brother Earl, Jill West and the Blues Attack, Tres Lads, Gil Snyder, The Elliots, House of Soul and Dancing Queen. The 8th Annual Boardwalk Art Show is being held in Historic Ocean Grove on Saturday, July 31 from 9 to 4, rain or shine. This juried show, sponsored by the Ocean Grove Area Chamber of Commerce, features 74 artists displaying and selling their work. The entries are varied - oil and acrylic paintings, pastels, watercolor, mixed media, pottery, sculpture, photographs, paintings on floor cloths, jewelry, etchings and paper collage. Children enter a world of fantasy and fables when costumed interpreters weave three tales together during Mount Vernon’s storytelling session, “Once Upon a Time at Mount Vernon,” held every Saturday and Sunday at 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. Storytelling sessions will take place in the Hands-On History Room in the Donald W. Reynolds Education Center. “Washington Builds a Barn” is the theme for August’s storytelling sessions. During the 20-minute session, children learn Aesop’s fables and listen to stories about George Washington’s life! The storytelling program is recommended for children ages three to eight. Parental supervision is required. “Once Upon at Time at Mount Vernon” is included in regular Estate admission: adults, $15.00; youth ages 6-11, $7.00; and children under 5 are admitted free.
